![]() IF you only need a daily backup of files, Carbonite server is great and fine. So the solution is two different Carbonite products, server and endpoint. IF you have a file server, as we do, this can be interesting.as you need your server to act as a client. In very simple terms, Carbonite views server backup as once a day and workstation client backup as every 15 mins or so. I was finally put in contact with the correct person by our rep. Mozy and Carbonite just have a different way of approaching. I think all solutions will probably work well. If I'm just missing something, I'm happy to keep an open mind. IF these features are even possibly available in Carbonite they make you DIG for them, unnecessarily in my opinion.Īlso, I haven't fully given up on Carbonite. ![]() I say I want easy, because if I get hit by a bus, one of our less-techy employees may need to login and restore a file or bunch of files to whatever is available until we can get back online. Basic need is an online backup that runs about every 2 hours for changes and new files, and is available for us to easily restore to even a laptop if one of our officers is working on a project during an interruption. I'm rather amazed that Carbonite doesn't seem to offer any of these human user-friendly features, but maybe the product just isn't targeted to us anymore.Īppreciate suggestions on alternatives to look into, that are secure and reliable but also easy to use the way we want to? I don't think I'm being unreasonable. ![]() Mozy even used to provide a local backup and a restore feature & tools on the server, rather than having to only sign into the portal. But more likely, there's an alternative product out there that willl provide stable and reliable online backup every 2 hours or more with an easy visual on which files and folders I'm backing up, and an easy restore ability to a site other than the server machine the files originated on. Maybe I just have to re-educate on backup. And, Carbonite Server is very complicated compared to MozyPro. Now Carbonite has been forced upon us, and while it seems to be a fast and robust system, it doesn't seem to have any of the deal-breaker features we want for our relatively simple document file backups. Yes it broke on occasion, but also saved our bacon more than once.
